Non-governmental organizations call on the U.S. to refrain from using cluster munitions in any military action in Syria.

In a letter to the Obama administration, U.S. non-governmental organizations have called on the United States to refrain from using any form of cluster munition in any military operation in Syria. They urge the 112 countries that are part of the Convention on Cluster Munitions to help ensure that these weapons are not used in Syria.

The U.S. did not attend the Fourth Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions held in Lusaka, Zambia on September 9-13. More than 100 governments adopted the Zambia Progress Report, noting the large number of states that have condemned the use of cluster munitions in Syria since 2012.
